C.H.I.P. Power Issues

It may be possible that your power supply is incapable of supplying enough power for C.H.I.P.. Are you using a DIP accessory board (ex. VGA or HDMI DIP)? While a 2.0A AC adapter should be enough to power a C.H.I.P. and a DIP, some power supplies are labeled at a higher amperage than they can actually reliably supply.

Many major brands of cell phone power supplies will provide reliable power as advertised. However, please note that an Apple wall charger will not provide a reliable 2Amp to your C.H.I.P. as it does too much power negotiation.

Also, if there are any other peripherals plugged into the C.H.I.P. (keyboard, mouse, etc) please try powering the C.H.I.P. on without them plugged in. A powered external USB hub is recommended so that peripherals do not drain too much power from the C.H.I.P.

Having C.H.I.P. attached to your computer while using a DIP will not work properly. Most computers’ USB ports will not provide enough power to adequately supply C.H.I.P.
