Common Problems

These three suggestions have solved most people’s DIP problems:

  1. Make sure you are powering C.H.I.P with an adequate 5V 2A+ power supply. Having C.H.I.P. attached to your computer while using a DIP will not work properly. Most computers’ USB ports will not provide enough power to adequately supply C.H.I.P.
  2. Please try more than one display cable and more than one monitor, if you can. Not all cables and monitors are created equal.
  3. Make sure to update C.H.I.P to version 4.4 with DIP support available at flash.getchip.com. DIPs won’t work without this update.

If none of the above has worked for you, there is a new version of our software that we are currently testing. You can read more details on our BBS at bbs.nextthing.co/t/chip-power-issues-w-hdmi-vga-dips/5603/1. Please let us know if you continue to have trouble after going through these steps!
